Your search and location stay on your device.

Silent Spaces is built by Mihika Pall as a single-founder product. This policy explains, in plain English, what data the app collects, why, and where it goes. Short version: the only data we collect is your device’s location, and only while you are using the app, and it never leaves your device.

What we collect

• Precise location, only when you tap Nearby or first arrive at the map with Find calm spots near me. iOS asks for your permission the first time. You can revoke it any time in Settings › Silent Spaces › Location.

That’s it. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, calendar, health data, financial data, identifiers for advertising, or anything else.

Why we collect it

Your location is used only to sort the list of places by distance from you and to draw a small dot on the map showing where you are. It is computed entirely on your device using Apple’s Core Location APIs and the open-source Capacitor Geolocation plugin. We do not send your coordinates to our servers (there is no server — the app is a static bundle), and we do not share them with third parties.

What we do NOT do

• No accounts. No sign-in. No password ever asked.
• No analytics. No usage tracking. No event pixels.
• No advertising identifiers, no IDFA, no third-party tracking SDKs.
• No background location. Location is requested only while you actively use the app.
• No data sold to any third party. There is no data to sell.

Third-party content

The app loads a few public assets from third-party CDNs. None of these services receive any data about you beyond what your browser or operating system already sends with any HTTP request (your IP address and a User-Agent string):

• CARTO & OpenStreetMap — map tiles.
• Wikimedia Commons — venue photography.
• Unsplash — fallback category photography.
• Apple Maps / Google Maps — opens in your default maps app when you tap the “X mi away” link or the address. Once your maps app opens, that app’s own privacy policy applies.
• Google Fonts — serves the Inter typeface used throughout the app.

Data we store on your device

Silent Spaces uses your device’s local storage for two small preferences only:

• Whether you have dismissed the “Add to Home Screen” install prompt (so we don’t keep nagging you).
• The most recently selected sort mode (Sensory safety or Nearby), so it sticks across visits.

Both are stored in your browser’s or the iOS WebView’s localStorage. Clearing your browser cache or uninstalling the app removes them.

Children

Silent Spaces does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages, but as we collect no personal data at all, no child-specific policy is required.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes on the App Store.
